Before you begin, it is important that you bear in mind the following advice:

Be patient and persistent. Generally, inventions don’t come together on the first try, so an inventor has to have a great deal of patience and keep on trying until their invention works.

Work safely. You should use the right safety equipment for every situation. If you don’t use your tools correctly, they could be dangerous to you. It is important that you read the instructions for use found inside the packaging for each tool. Here are some pieces of safety equipment you may need:

  • Gloves
  • Protective goggles
  • Lightweight face mask (covering nose/mouth area

Be clean and tidy when you work. You should keep your work area clean and tidy. Everything should be in its place and you should clean your tools after using them.

Work in a team. It’s really important to learn to work as part of a team because that way you’ll achieve greater things. You should behave politely and respectfully towards your workmates, ask permission to use things that other people are using, and know how to listen to other people’s ideas without making fun of them. Something very important is to decide which task each member will be doing so that you can put the different parts together and make something new.
